Procurement Manager - Canadian Silica Inc.

Position: Procurement Manager

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Procurement Manager’s role is focused on fulfilling purchase requisition orders and procurement of parts, supplies, tools and inventory, and to negotiate contracts and any other items or services the company requires. Candidates with knowledge of parts & services for mining plants and related equipment repairs will be given preference.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-operational checks on Management of the purchase order process for financial accuracy and timeliness of ensuring supply and services meet requirements, and payment terms are properly set up and tracked to the proper accounts
  • Liaison with supplier and business unit representatives to ensure goods and services meet quality standards and on time
  • Consult with internal stakeholders to determine requirements, project scope and desired outcomes, preparing competitive bid and requests for RFP, RFI and RFQ sourcing
  • Audit and pre-qualify vendors for adherence to quality and scheduling requirements
    Support and lead procurement activities
  • Develop relationships with vendors and service providers to build sourcing networks.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement contract management policies and procedures.
  • Identify and investigate issues and recommend solutions
  • Follow up on back orders, perform reconciliation of delivery slips with purchase orders, and approved invoices
  • Effectively communicate and interface with all areas of business and deliver a high standard of internal customer service; (Procurement, Shared Services, Asset Management and Operations), process changes, analysis of issues, investigation and issue resolution and provide direction for improvements
  • Issue, collate and manage purchase requisitions, purchase orders and amendments from various sites to be prepared for approval.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Five+ years of progressively responsible experience in procurement
  • Background in sourcing for mining plants and related equipment would be an asset
  • Ability to work in a growing, dynamic and changing environment
  • Proven ability to work with limited direction, self-motivated and will take the initiative to figure out issues and formulate solutions to address issues.
  • Ability to manage numerous competing priorities in an effective manner
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, problem solving skills and sound decision making abilities
  • Experience and knowledge of contracts management and negotiation.

We have an immediate opening available for an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to complement our team of transportation and logistics professionals in Fort St. John, B.C. You will be able to adjust, repair or replace parts and components for cranes and other heavy equipment, including chassis, frame, cab, body, engine and drive train, air brakes, steering, and fuel, hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems, structural, brake and electrical systems. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the candidate is expected to be able to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs. Ideal candidates will meet the following criteria:

  • Provincial or Interprovincial Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification
  • 3rd or 4th year apprentices with applicable experience will also be considered
  • Experience with electrical (24 volt) hydraulic troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated initiative with sound work ethic
  • Energetic individual who is able to work unsupervised in shop or field setting
  • Flexibility to accommodate after hours call outs when necessary
  • Valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
